Michael Epperson, DVM
Dr. Epperson is a 2003 graduate of Mississippi State College of Veterinary Medicine. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Animal and Dairy Science at Mississippi State University. He practiced in Memphis, TN, for 2 years before making his decent to the Emerald Coast. He practiced in Pensacola for 2 years once arriving in the Panhandle. Dr. Epperson has a special interest in surgery, dermatology and ultrasound. Michael is an avid sport fan and loves being outdoors and on the beach. He serves a District Representative for the Florida Veterinary Medical Association and is a member of the Miracle Strip Veterinary Medical Society.
Dr. Hartley and Dr. Epperson got married in June 2007 and bought Companion Animal Hospital & Boarding Center in October 2008. They have invested in many improvements in the hospital to make it a more functional and welcoming hospital for clients and patients. They strive to provide the best medical care possible and will continue to improve their education and practice principles in order to provide excellent care. Dr. Hartley and Dr. Epperson are proud parents of two beautiful girls Addison & Grace.

Heather Hartley, DVM
Dr. Hartley is a 2006 graduate from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. She also obtained her undergraduate degree in Math and Sciences from Auburn University. She moved to the Emerald Coast shortly after graduation and began her veterinary career. She has special interest in oncology, internal medicine (endocrinology), ophthalmology and surgery. Heather is a die hard AUBURN fan and loves being outdoors enjoying the beautiful Florida weather. She served as President of the Miracle Strip Veterinary Medical Society for 4 years and enjoys staying active in the local veterinary community. She is also a member of the Florida Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association, American Veterinary Medical Association and Feline Practitioners. She is thoroughly enjoys being a parent of two wonderful girls that keep her busy in her spare time.
Drs. Epperson and Hartley have 1 cat (Dorian), 1 squirrel (Bella Anderson) and 3 dogs (Newton, Aubie and Nala) they all are frequent hospital visitors that come to assist in any way they see fit... especially to ensure that it does not get too quiet.
Jessie Gamauf, DVM
Dr. Jessie is originally from the Chicagoland area. She was attending Purdue University, in Indiana, in pursuit of an undergrad degree in Biology, when she was accepted a year early to attend the university of Illinois, College of Veterinary Medicine. In 2004, she graduated and married her husband, Eric, who is from her hometown and is on active duty in the USAF. They were stationed at Hurlburt AFB and she has been fortunate enough to have spent a majority of her career practicing in the area, with only one year stationed in Texas while her husband attended pilot training. She initially wanted to pursue a career in zoo animal medicine. However, while in school she quickly realized how much she values the relationships that develop between a client and their veterinarian and how much she enjoys being apart of that special bond between a client and their pet, leading to her decision to continue her career in companion animal medicine. She is also a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Florida Veterinary Medical Association.
When the work day is done, there is no time to rest as she goes home to her three small children, three crazy dogs, and one brave cat. Although she doesn't love the saltwater, she loves the beauty of this area and enjoys spending as much time as possible in the outdoors, camping, hiking, and just enjoying Florida life.
Kimberly Sadler, DVM
Dr. Kimberly Sadler is a graduate from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She spent her years at veterinary school focusing on small animal medicine and enjoying the great state of North Carolina. She is originally from Long Island, New York but completed her undergraduate degree in Texas at the University of North Texas where she earned a Bachelors Degree in chemistry and graduated Summa Cum Laude. Dr. Sadler enjoys all aspects of small animal medicine, but she particularly has interests in endocrinology, ophthalmology, and preventative medicine. She is also a strong proponent of the wellness movement occurring in veterinary medicine, which encourages veterinarians to lead healthier lifestyles in order to improve mental health and well being. While in veterinary school, she quickly learned how much she values strong doctor-client-patient relationships and closely working with clients to ensure every pet receives the utmost care, which led her to pursue a career as a small animal veterinarian.
Dr. Sadler is married to Dr. Corey Sadler, who is a physician in the Air Force at Eglin Air Force Base. In her free time, she enjoys working out, running, road biking, spending time at the beautiful beaches in the area, and traveling the world with her husband. She has a strange obsession with dinosaurs, and she would eat pizza every day for every meal if she was given the option. Her husband and her have one furry child named a Yossi, a German Shepard Dog, and are always considering adding more GSDs to the family.
Dr. Sadler is very excited to be a part of the Companion Animal Hospital family, and she looks forward to caring for your pets.
AuVian DesJardins, DVM
Dr. AuVián DesJardins was born in Jacksonville, Florida and grew up in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia. After graduating with her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Florida, she went on to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation, Dr. DesJardins spent 3 years as an active duty Army Veterinary Corps Officer practicing clinical veterinary medicine at Fort Sill in Oklahoma. While serving, Dr. DesJardins worked with Military Working Dogs, Military Working Equids, numerous species of wildlife and civilian pets alike. To continue adding to her knowledge base, Dr. DesJardins most recently worked for a corporate small animal practice in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Dr. DesJardins' professional interests include dermatology, preventative medicine and the promotion of the human-animal bond. Her favorite part of being a veterinarian is having the opportunity to provide a voice to the voiceless. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Florida Veterinary Medical Association, and the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association.
Although Dr. DesJardins is no longer an active duty soldier, she continues to embrace Army life with her husband David, an Army Officer stationed with 7th Special Forces Group on Eglin Air Force Base. The two have a son named Josiah, two dogs (Zili, Zoie), and a cat (Koala). The DesJardins family enjoys traveling the world, cheering for the Florida Gators, swimming at the beach and spending time with family and friends.
